Ahmedabad, Ahmedabad: A division bench of the Gujarat High Court headed by acting chief justice MS Shah has issued notices to the state government and Gram Panchayat Sewa Pasandagi Mandal over the issue of a recruitment drive of gram sewaks. The bench issued notice pertaining to 11 petitions filed against the recruitment drive initiated by the Mandal.
The petitions were moved by candidates who are degree-holders of the Gram Vidya Visharad. The petitioners have contended that they had earned degrees from the Gram Vidya Visharad, being taught about panchayats and related matter, but the Mandal had not included the course in the academic criteria despite them being eligible for the posts, which are mainly for the rural areas.
"We have filed 11 petitions on behalf of the candidates. Numerous students who have earned degrees from the Gram Vidya Visharad are being affected by the issue," said Dipak Sindhi, counsel for the petitioners.
