Norway kids row: Father claims he has not filed for divorce

Anurup Bhattacharya said whatever the differences between him his wife, their priority was to get the kids back to India.

Anurup Bhattacharya, father of two children Abhigyan, three, and Aishwarya, one, who were taken into care by Norwegian social services in an interview told a TV news channel that he has not filed for a divorce from his wife Sagarika.

He also said whatever the differences between him his wife, their priority was to get the kids back to India.

The Norway child custody case involving an NRI couple which has already sparked off a diplomatic row on Tuesday took a curious turn following reports about the Anurup and his parents alleging that the wife had “psychological problems”.  

Anurup's father Ajay Bhattacharya reportedly said that the Norwegian child care authorities are also aware about her illness as they had been observing Sagarika for long.

“Yes, Anurup is mulling legal separation from his wife as she suffers from acute schizophrenia. Last night (Monday) Sagarika attacked my son and badly injured him. Since then, he has fled from her and is living elsewhere. She has been attacking him for long,” Anurup's father reportedly said.
