Northern railways cancels 29 more trains till Dec 31 due to bad weather

Anticipating dense fog in the coming days, Railways Wednesday decided to cancel 29 more trains till December 31 from Thursday.

Earlier, the Railways had cancelled over 30 trains from December 1 for a month, keeping the weather condition in mind.

"Fog is likely to prevail in coming days also. In view of the safety aspects of passengers, we have decided to fully cancel 29 trains and partially cancel nine trains from tomorrow till December 31," a Northern Railway spokesperson said.

Meanwhile, dense fog continued to hit train operations with as many as 144 trains being either rescheduled or running several hours late.

Most of the Rajdhani trains coming from Mumbai, Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Bangalore, Howrah and Sealdah are running several hours late, causing inconvenience to passengers.

While Lucknow Shatabdi train is running 22 hours late, Jharkhand Sampark Kranti Express is 21 hours behind schedule. Hirakhand Express and Muri Express are running 24 hours and 22 hours late respectively.
