Three criminals, who abducted a Greater Noida authority official on Tuesday, were shot dead by the Noida Police on Wednesday.  Dutt is the private secretary of Greater Noida Authority’s CEO. The abductors had demanded a ransom of Rs10 lakh. “We got a call from Dutt’s father. He complained that Dutt had not reached home on Tuesday, “said a police officer.

“At 7:45 pm on Tuesday, Dutt’s father got a call from the abductors. They demanded the pin code number of Dutt’s ATM card. The abductors called again after an hour demanding a ransom of Rs10 lakh,” the officer said.

The police put the kidnappers’ mobile phone under surveillance and located their hideout in Sector-88. When the police reached the spot, the abductors sped off in a car. The police followed the criminals who opened fire.

The police also fired in retaliation. After about 10 rounds of firing, the three kidnappers were critically injured. They were declared dead before reaching hospital. The police found the victim tied up and dumped below the rear seat.

“Luckily the victim was below the seat and did not get injured. The kidnappers were critically injured in the firing,” said the officer. The abductors were identified as Shekhar Sharma, a resident of Dankaur town of Greater Noida, Mohammad Waseem, a resident of Loni and Imran, a resident of Maujpur, Delhi.

Four shootouts have taken place in Noida in 2009, including the gunbattle between the Uttar Pradesh anti-terror squad (ATS) and militants that killed two suspected Pakistani terrorists in January.
