The hustle-bustle on CG Road was missing. The place wore a deserted look on Tuesday and the scenario will be no different in the next two days as shop owners have decided to keep shut for three days. What's more, they are also planning to take legal recourse against the sealing drive undertaken by the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC).

There was little public movement on the Central Business District (CBD) of Ahmedabad as the shop-owners had given a call for bandh on Tuesday. This was after AMC's estate management and town development department had resumed their sealing drive on Monday. The department sealed 156 commercial establishments located in six buildings for change of use and unauthorised constructions.

The bandh, called by the CG Road Shop-owners Association, received good response from its members. "We had a good response from the members and so we have extended the bandh call for three more days," said Vasant Tirodkar, secretary, CG Road Shop-owners Association.

The shop owners also plan to meet the governor on the sealing issue. "We have asked for an appointment with the governor," said Tirodkar. He also said that they were mulling legal recourse and said that the final decision will be taken only after consulting a legal expert.

An AMC official said that they could not continue with the sealing drive on Tuesday as the shops and offices on CG Road were closed.
