No indictment of Andhra Pradesh govt in Sohrabuddin Shaikh case: Congress

Congress today sought to dismiss BJP President Nitin Gadkari's claim that the Andhra Pradesh government too was involved in the Sohrabuddin Sheikh fake encounter case saying till date there was no indictment of the authorities in the Congress-ruled state by any agency.

"Till today, there is no indictment of Andhra Pradesh by any agency, any action take report or the Supreme Court," party spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.

Singhvi said Gadkari should submit all the details to the Supreme Court, CBI and the CBI designated court and such evidence in a criminal case would be looked into.

"What connection is there? If one thief who is caught says that another thief is roaming free," the spokesman said.

He said all legal options were available to Amit Shah, the former Home Minister of Gujarat arrested by CBI for his role in the fake encounter.

Gadkari in Mumbai said, "The Sohrabuddin encounter probe by CBI was to target BJP and to keep Congress out.

This is evident from the fact that though then Andhra Pradesh government of YS Rajasekhara Reddy was equally involved in the arrest and encounter death of Sohrabuddin, CBI completely left out the (that) government from the radar."
