Ruling JD(U) in Bihar on Friday said Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's visit to Mumbai was "not political" as he was going there to attend a social and cultural programme.

"Nitish Kumar's proposed visit to Mumbai is not in any way political. Kumar is going there to take part in a social and cultural programme. It is for Maharashtra CM to take a call and decide whether Kumar should reach Maharashtra or not," JD(U) spokesperson Sanjay Singh said.

"It is for Maharashtra Chief Minister to decide whether his counterparts from other states should reach the state or not," Singh said.

Singh said, "An unnecessary dispute was being created over Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's proposed visit to Mumbai on April 15. It smacks of a design to deal a blow to the unity and integrity."

"This confusion should now be over. Chief Minister is free to visit any state and it is the responsibility of Maharashtra Chief Minister to take care of such issue," Singh said.
