Patna: With assembly elections due next year, Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar has strongly advocated classification for backward and extremely backward classes (EBCs) in central services.
Stating that former Bihar chief minister Karpoori Thakur had done the classification way back, Kumar asked the government emoloyees belonging to the EBC to raise the demand forcefully.
The NDA government in Bihar is giving political reservation for this section and 20 per cent reservation has been made for the EBCs in the panchayat and local bodies, he told a seminar 'Development and Challenges faced by the EBCs in Changing Economic Circumstances' last night.
Without naming his political rival RJD chief Lalu Prasad and LJP president Ram Vilas Paswan, Kumar said the opposition parties should read the writing on the wall that the deprived sections have the power to burn those who oppose the state government's endeavour to bring them to the mainstream.
