BJP president Nitin Gadkari on Monday said both Sonia Gandhi and Mulayam Singh Yadav, instead of focusing on development, are concerned only in getting their sons installed as Prime Minister and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister respectively.

"Sonia Gandhi is concerned only on how to get her son Rahul the post of the Prime Minister while Mulayam keeps thinking on how his son Akhilesh can become the UP Chief Minister," Gadkari told an election rally here.

Attacking the two leaders, he said they were not interested in development and in improving the lot of the people.

The BJP chief also lashed out at the BSP terming it as nothing more than a grocery store.

On Rahul Gandhi's claim that Uttar Pradesh was pushed to backwardness by successive non-Congress governments in the past 22 years, Gadkari asked him how much development took place during the 40-year rule of the Congress in the state.

He accused the Congress of trying to eradicate poverty of its own leaders rather than that of the common man.

Gadkari accused the SP and the Congress of trying to woo Muslims by playing the reservation card.

Referring to the Batla House encounter, he said "every Congress leader is going to Azamgarh and none to the house of the slain police Inspector."
