Militants have shot at and critically injured a senior National Conference activist in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources said today.

National Conference Halqa unit president, Ghulam Mohammad Dar (45) was shot at by unidentified pistol-borne ultras in the compound of his house at Hard-shiva village in Sopore town, 55 km from here, last night, they said.

Dar was later brought to Srinagar for specialised treatment, they said, adding that the militants fled the spot soon after firing at him and a manhunt has been launched to nab them.

No militant outfit has so far claimed responsibility for the incident.
