Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday said that the state government was thinking of involving jail inmates in the audio book project for visually-impaired children.

The CM was launching the Braille and audio books for such children at Gujarat Sahitya Parishad.

“The talent of inmates of various prisons across Gujarat could be tapped for their voice. And if the quality of voice is found worthy enough to be recorded, then we should make use of this voice. We would accomplish two aims: One is to ensure that inmates read good and knowledgeable books; and two, blind children get to hear fairy tales, biographies, poetries and more,” he said.

Modi said the ‘Vanche Gujarat’ mission should be taken further with Braille and audio books project.

Modi said, “There are experts working towards converting all the libraries of Gujarat into e-library. This would imply that every library will have 20 lakh books and all magazines available in the world.”
