Narendra Modi tells top officials to reach out to taluka level

On the last day of four-day Chintan Shibir at Dhordo in the Rann of Kutch, chief minister Narendra Modi asked top officials to reach out to the lowest point of the society. A senior bureaucrat said the CM asked all the bureaucrats and ministers to reach out to taluka level to help the poorest of the poor.

“He said that you (senior officials) should take that much interest in the development of the talukas and implementation the programmes that the poor would look to the districts only as a second option. He asked all the bureaucrats to show more commitment for the uplift of people as true karmayogis,’’ the official said.

Another senior bureaucrats said the CM gave reference of Karl Marx, Gandhiji and Hindu philosophy for the development of the state. “He said that Marx used to say ‘no state’ state while our philosophy says that we need to first focus on our duties and rights will follow. He also said Hindu philosophy focuses on Raj Dharma which means following one’s duty. If everyone follows his or her own duty, then everyone’s needs will be catered to.

He said from Kevadia to Kutch, Chintan Shibirs have emerged as an institution and generated quality changes in the development of the state. He also asked officials to work not just as a ‘Team Gujarat’ but also create ‘Team Talukas’ and ‘Taluka Government’ chief secretary D Rajagopalan assured the CM of commitment of the administration in the development of the state.

A competition among junior IAS officers was also held at the shibir, in which the officials were given the task of speaking on the theme of “If I were chief secretary…’’.While Dr Sandhhya Bhullar, DDO Panchmahals, won the first prize, PK Solanki, DDO Amreli, won the second prize.
