Narendra Modi inaugurates forensic nanotechnology meet

Chief minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the first international conference on 'Forensic Nanotechnology' on Friday organised by Gujarat Forensic Science University and sponsored by Gujarat Council of Science City at Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) in Gandhinagar.

Talking about the importance of the nanotechnology, Modi said that the field has the power to scientifically solve many problems and stressed on the need to create trained technocrats in the field.

"On one hand, when the criminal world is moving towards high-tech and sophisticated crimes, the criminal justice system needs to be made technology-driven," he said. He said that Gujarat's Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) has earned international laurels for making the criminal justice system more effective.

Nanotechnology expert V Krishnan from Bangalore said that he wished that Gujarat Forensic Sciences University would ensure the application of nanotechnology in forensic science to strengthen the system of criminal justice and revolutionise the fingerprint technology.
