Narendra Modi hands over employment letters to 13,380 youths

As part of 'Swami Vivekananda Youth Employment Week', 13,380 youths were handed over appointment letters on behalf of private employers at a function attended by Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Modi said earlier the youth were reluctant to take courses at ITIs but the government has brought about a drastic change in industrial training being provided at these centres.

The state government's labour department had organised surveys at various industrial estates in the state to identify vacancies and later held placement fairs to facilitate employment to youths.

The state government has planned to give employment letters to 65,000 youths of the state this week.

Modi had handed over appointment letters to 13,079 youths of eight districts of Saurashtra-Kutch zone and 13,229 youths of six districts of central Gujarat zone earlier.

On Thursday, youths from six districts from Ahmedabad zone were given the letters.

The chief minister, on Friday, will hand out appointment letters to 25,312 youths from six districts of south Gujarat at Surat.
