The Gujarat University (GU) Convention Hall, venue of chief minister Narendra Modi's three-day fast, was witness to some dramatic events on Sunday. On the second day of the Sadbhavna Mission, two people tried to commit suicide outside the venue citing pressures of different kinds.

According to police, a woman from Wankaner slashed her wrist in the evening after she was denied permission to meet the CM. The woman identified as Vaishali Makwana, 24, had come to meet Modi with her grievances. She claimed that her in-laws were tormenting her since she got married.

"Makwana is originally from Maharashtra but was married some 10 years ago in Wankaner. However, she claims that her in-laws were not happy with the marriage and had been torturing her. She wanted to meet Modi to resolve the issue. But she was not allowed to meet him," police sources said. The frustrated woman then cut her wrist outside the venue. Soon 108 rushed her to VS Hospital where her condition is said to be stable.

In a separate incident, a young man from Surendranagar identified as Dinesh Chauhan was rushed to VS Hospital in the evening. He was spotted near the mission venue with blood oozing from his wrist. Chauhan revealed that he slashed his wrist after he lost a friend's phone.
