NABARD has sanctioned Rs49.53 crore for the IT infrastructure of Technopark at Kundara in Kollam under the Rural Infrastructure Development Fund.
The amount was meant for works such as land development, internal roads, canal embankment, drains and culverts, water supply and sewage plants of the IT park, coming up on the banks of the Ashtamudi Lake, an official release said today.
The Kollam IT park, forming part of hub-and-spoke model of IT infrastructure development in the state, was envisaged to have 1,00,000 ft of built-up area. The project has been given Special Economic Zone status by the Centre.
The NBARD funding would help not only the Kollam Technopark but also the entire panchayts of Mulavana and Perayam, where the facility was located, Technopark CEO Mervin Alexander said.
