Eminent Bollywood music director Ismail Darbar formally announced his induction into the Bharatiya Janata Party on Wednesday.
Darbar, who hails from Surat, had met chief minister Narendra Modi some days earlier. Darbar was inducted at the state BJP office in Khanpur along with national vice-president, Purushottam Rupala, state BJP president RC Faldu and state spokesperson, IK Jadeja. Darbar was welcomed by Faldu who garlanded him with a saffron scarf.
"I'm delighted to join BJP. It was my mother's last wish to serve the people and she deemed the BJP fit as it is a party in power in the state and I can work better from here," said Darbar.
When asked about his future assignments in the party, Darbar replied that he was willing to do whatever the party assigned him with.
