MP seeks permission to contribute from local funds to relief in Leh

Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Agrawal today sought permission from vice-president Hamid Ansari to contribute Rs20 lakh from his Local Area Development Fund to relief works at Leh where unprecedented cloudbursts have wreaked havoc.

He also requested Ansari and Lok Sabha speaker Meira Kumar to allow all the members of Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha to contribute at least 10 lakh from their Local Area Development Fund towards relief works in Leh, an official release here said.

The requests were made by the BJP's former treasurer in separate letters to Ansari and Kumar.
