Surat: Even though the Surat police has been successful in arresting the three accused for killing financier Rajiv Shah, the cops are still clueless about the motive of the murder.

The police officials are sticking to the old theory, while the accused tell a different story. The murderers allege that Shah instigated a tussle, which forced them to kill him.

A day has been passed after the arrest of the prime accused in the case, but Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) officials has yet not been able to unravel the motive behind the murder.Sources said that the DCB officials took statements of the three accused twice after they were arrested, but they are terming the entire event as an accident rather than cold blooded murder. On the contrary, the accused blamed Rajiv for the entire incident.

"The three claim that Shah was angry on them and did not involve them during organizing the Navratri festival at the Indoor stadium in Surat. They say, Shah used to make derogatory remarks and it used to result in heated arguments. On October 11 when Shah was murdered, Shah had instigated an argument and he was abusive to them," said an official in DCB requesting anonymity.
