The Ahmedabad city crime branch on Saturday arrested Vinod Kakadia for organising the recent abduction of the 14-year-old NRI boy, Jeet Patel. Kakadia happens to be the uncle of Jeet’s mother.

Jeet was abducted on December 23 but the kidnappers let him go under police pressure.
Kakadia was picked up after his accomplice, Vijay Patni, 32, who was arrested by the police earlier, revealed how Kakadia had plotted Jeet’s abduction to extort money from his parents.

Crime branch officials, including PI KK Patel, PSI JM Yadav and PSI JD Purohit, had earlier arrested Patni in connection with the abduction case. On interrogation, Patni had revealed that, on December 22, he along with Kanu Dantani and Gita Patni had met Kakadia in Meghaninagar. Kakadia had told them about his abduction plan there.

Kakadia had told them that if they wanted to extort money from Jeet’s parents, they will
have to kidnap the boy before he flies off to Canada on December 24. The four had later hatched a plan to kidnap Jeet. Kakadia had acquired a photo of Jeet and had also managed to get his mobile number. The two other people wanted in the case are still absconding.
