A woman allegedly killed her two children by throwing them into a canal and attempted suicide by hurling herself into water at a village near Amritsar today.
After some passersby raised an alarm, policemen rescued Harjit Kaur, 38, but her children Karan, 12 and Manihsa, 7 drowned, SSP Amritsar (Rural) Gurmit Singh Chohan said.
Kaur, after some petty dispute with husband Bittu at home, rushed to Jandiala Guru canal and jumped into it after pushing her children.
She has been taken into custody for killing children and on the charge of attempt to suicide.
