The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) has created two more isolation wards which will work as standby for combating swine flu.

LG hospital and Shardaben hospital have also started OPD along with the isolation wards.

Patients tested for swine flu will be admitted in these wards in case the Vadilal Sarabhai Hospital fails to accommodate more patients.

At present, the Shardaben hospital has three beds in isolation ward, but more beds will be added in a couple of days once the electrification work of the radiology ward is completed. On the other hand, the isolation ward at LG hospital has eight beds.

“We have a team of physicians, ENT specialists and microbiologists ready to fight in case of an emergency. As of now, the isolated OPD is being handled by only one doctor because the flow of patients is low,” said Dr RG Surella, medical superintendent of LG Hospital.

The AMC is also providing Tamiflu tablets to people who have come in contact with patients tested positive for swine flu.
