Monkey menace: Langoors to keep C'Wealth Games venues safe

There are a lot of monkeys in the NDMC areas, especially near the Talkatora Indoor Stadium and the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee complex which will hold the swimming events.

To keep monkeys away from the Commonwealth Games venues in the city, the civic authorities are now 'deploying' langoors.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) has brought in 10 additional langoors to chase away monkeys from near the Games venues, an official said. The NDMC already has 28 langoors which are used to scare monkeys in VIP areas of the city.

There are a lot of monkeys in the NDMC areas, especially near the Talkatora Indoor Stadium and the Shyama Prasad Mukherjee complex which will hold the swimming events.

"From tomorrow onwards, we will increase the number of langoors from 28 to 38. The additional langoors will take care of the Games venues and other important areas," said the official.

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) has also constituted a special team that has been making rounds of all Games venues facing monkey menace.
