After murmurs of discontent from some prominent party leaders of Bihar against his new team of office-bearers, BJP chief Nitin Gadkari today appointed two former presidents of the state unit as special invitees to the national executive of the organisation.
Former Bihar BJP unit president Nand Kishore Yadav, who is also health minister in Nitish Kumar government in the state, and outgoing state president Radha Mohan Singh have been appointed special invitees to the national executive taking the number of such members to 38.
Gadkari's action came a day after senior party leader and former union minister CP Thakur had criticised Gadkari's new team as not a "balanced one" and suggested it should be revised. He also said "injustice" had been done to him by excluding him from the list.
Thakur had also alleged the list had given more importance to Maharashtra while Bihar, which is going to assembly polls in October this year, has been ignored.
Sources said since the disenchanted leaders are all from Bihar, the two new appointments made today are aimed at assuaging their feelings.
Earlier, actor-turned politician and former union minister Shatrughan Sinha had said "most deserving" candidates had been ignored in the new team.
Another senior leader Shahnawaz Hussain is also said to be sulking and had expressed his unhappiness by keeping away from a meeting of spokespersons. The three-time MP was hoping
to become party general secretary.
