A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped by three youths in Songadh in Tapi district on Monday night. The prime accused works as driver at victim's house, while other two accused are his friends. The police have arrested all the three accused and a case has been registered against them.
According to information, Shobha (name changed), 14, a resident of Navagam in Songadh was abducted by Jetha Bharwad, 25, a resident of same area, late on Monday night.
Jetha has been working as a driver for Shobha's father for last five months.According to sources in the police and the victim's statement, Jetha lured the victim by saying he will take her on a ride on his motorcycle. Jetha after taking Shobha on a ride, took her to the bushes near Gamukh where his two friends, Bhavan Bharwad and Zakir Khatki, residents of Navagam were already waiting in an Indigo car with registration MH-04-8950. Jetha asked Shobha to get inside the car and the other two left on Jetha's bike.
Jetha tore the victim's clothes and raped her. After sometime, Bhavan and Zakir returned and got inside the car and molested Shobha. Jetha raped Shobha twice in the car and forced her to do oral sex.Bhavan and Zakir left the spot in the car, and Jetha dropped Shobha home late in the night.Jetha threatened Shobha and said the consequences will be bad if she informed her parents about the incident.
After reaching home, Shobha however narrated the entire incident to her parents, shocked by which they informed the police.
Police were informed by Shobha's family and they immediately started search for the three and arrested the accused from a bar at Lakkadkot. The trio was presented before Shobha for identification. After she identified them, the police registered a case against the tree. Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) officials investigated the crime scene and collected proofs. Even though accused have been arrested, sources say that the entire case has been twisted by the police to save the girl. Sources knowing Shobha and Jetha said that the two were having an affair for the past few months and both have met outside Songadh several times.
Sources added that during interrogation, Shobha and Jetha confessed of having a physical relationship which shocked Shobha's family and the police. Later, Shobha's family members wanted the police to twist the case and file a case of rape on Jetha. Shobha's father owns a catering business at Songadh.
