An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter with 28th Assam Rifle personnel at Tahakpali area in Imphal East district, official sources said here today.
Assam Rifle personnel were patrolling the area last night when the militants fired at them.
In the subsequent exchange of firing, one militant was killed on the spot, they said.
One AK-56 rifle and nine live rounds of ammunition was recovered from the dead.
The body has been sent to the Regional Institute of Medical Science and Hospital for post-mortem.
So far eleven militants have been killed in insurgency related cases.
