Mica student found dead in hostel

A student of the Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmedabad (MICA) was found dead in his hostel room on Sunday.

Sources at the institute said that when the student, Praney Parekh, remained sleeping till late on Sunday morning, his friends tried to wake him up. They were alarmed when Parekh remained motionless and showed no sign that he was aware of them. The students informed the director of the institute after which Parekh was rushed to the hospital. At the hospital, however, the doctors declared him brought dead.

While the authorities of MICA could not be contacted to establish the exact cause of death, the Sanand police confirmed that an FIR for ‘accidental death’ was lodged in this connection.

Talking about the case, investigating officer RR Limbad said that according to the primary report, the student had died of cardiac arrest. “But we have sent the viscera of the deceased student to the FSL for an examination,” he said “The FSL report will reveal the exact cause of death.”

Parekh was from Bangalore, was a student of the six-month course of Crafting Creative Communication in MICA. He had been staying in the institute’s hostel. On getting news of his death, his family arrived and took his body to Mumbai.
