Dharwad (Karnataka): Centre is convening a meeting of Supreme Court Chief Justice and Chief Justices of High Courts on August 16 at New Delhi to discuss the road map for bringing in judicial reforms in the country, Union Minister for Law M Veerappa Moily said today.
"This is an era of judical reforms. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has directed the law department to prepare road map in this regard", Moily said at the first anniversary celebrations of the Karnataka High Court Circuit bench here.
The government has plans to introduce the National Judicial Services to bring all judicial officers under its ambit in the country, a system that is in vogue across the world, he said.
The government has decided to sanction Rs 962 crore outlay for setting up of more fast track courts, family courts and special courts for speedy disposal of cases pertaining to corruption, Moily said.
The Centre is keen on establishing Grama Nayalaya at village level, he said and appealed to states to take steps in this direction.
Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa said the state would soon start the Law University for which Rs 10 crore allocation has been earmarked.
