Meet held to check chain snatching incidents in Gujarat

Ahmedabad: With a view to curb the rising number of chain snatching incidents, joint commissioner of police JCP Zone-1 Satish Sharma convened a meeting of police inspectors of all the police stations under sector 1.

A source said that recommendations were placed by the concerned police officers to help curb the increasing incidents of chain snatching. Officials arrived at the conclusion that intensive patrolling is required to control the menace.

The source also said that a squad to nab chain snatchers operating in different parts of the city was also formed at the end of the meeting. The squad, the source added, will keep a tab on offenders who are out on bail or parole, and if they are found committing the offences, procedure to cancel the bail will be undertaken by the police.
