Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot today said it was the Congress government which registered a case against former IPS officer Madhukar Tandon in the alleged rape of a tribal woman 12 years ago.

Criticising MP Kirori Lal Meena, he said his frequent protests have disturbed the peace in the state.

"IPS Madhukar Tandon had committed the crime in Shekhawat regime, the Congress not only registered the case against Tandon but also chargesheeted and dismissed him. But there was no action ensured during previous Raje regime where Kirori was a minister", Gehlot said, adding, "I do not under stand what kind of politics he (Meena) is doing now".

Gehlot also criticised Meena's "behaviour" after his released from the jail yesterday.

"After a day-long agitation and dharna by Kirorilal and his supporters, he was released from Ajmer jail unconditionally," Gehlot told reporters here.

"He is an elected representative and should not sit or block highways and rail tracks with his supporters...there are other ways to protest," Gehlot said.
