With municipal polls just round the corner, the Delhi unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party has brought the 'lucky rath' used by Narendra Modi to campaign for the 2007 assembly polls in Gujarat for a 15-day long 'Jan Sangharsha' yatra.

The yatra, to be led by Delhi BJP chief Vijendra Gupta, will be flagged off by party president Nitin Gadkari on Saturday in Burari, West Delhi.

Gupta said the 'yatra' has been organised to raise awareness among people of Delhi about alleged corruption of the city government.

"BJP has been in a constant struggle against this corrupt government, and this Jan Sangharash Yatra will further strengthen our demand for its removal. It's time this government went," Delhi Pradesh President Vijendra Gupta said.

Beginning from February 11 from Burari village in North east Delhi, the yatra will be flagged off by BJP President Nitin Gadkari. "We will be joined by various senior leaders of the party through the 15 days," Gupta added. The yatra will conclude in Chandni Chowk on February 25.

"Delhi government has fooled the people in the name of Commonwealth Games and other policies. Delhi government and the government at the centre have only minted money. The Delhi Government is a highly corrupt government and time they should face the law of the land," Gupta alleged.

Talking about the 'rath', an optimistic Gupta said the vehicle has been sent from Gujarat with Chief Minister Modi's blessings. "This is a very lucky vehicle for us. Modiji used it for campaigning for Assembly elections in Gujarat, which was a success," he added.

Insisting that the yatra will give voice to people of Delhi who are facing serious problems of water shortage, power, price rise, security, education and food, Gupta said "the worthless and inefficient government has become deaf, dumb and blind towards the problems of the aam aadmi."

Hitting out at Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Gupta said, "The CAG report, CVC report and the Shunglu Committee report have exposed the corruption by her government, but still no legal action has been taken against her."

Asked about the yatra causing traffic disruptions, Gupta said "we are in talks with traffic police, and we'll try our best to ensure that the common man does not get affected because of the Yatra."

Gupta also refused to divulge information about the budget for the yatra.
