Social activist Anna Hazare got support from unexpected quarters on Wednesday as UP chief minister Mayawati declared her endorsement for Anna’s crusade against corruption.
“Our party and state government is completely against corruption and criminalisation of politics from the very beginning,” the BSP chief said in statement released here on Wednesday.
Mayawati secured the resignation of the minister of state for animal husbandry Awadh Pal Singh Yadav whom the UP Lokayukta has found guilty on severe charges of corruption.
Lok Ayukta NK Mehrotra had submitted his report on as many as 18 cases of corruption against the minister and recommended his removal from the ministry only on Monday.
With Yadav’s resignation some other ministers have also become wary of their future.
