A 45-year-old woman, who was shifted from Umaid Hospital to MG Hospital, the two medical centres in  Jodhpur where 15 women died last month after developing serious post-delivery complications, died today.

"Geeta Devi was admitted in Umaid Hospital on January 10 and was operated upon for a gynaecological problem. She had a cardiac arrest the next day and was admitted in the ICU at MG Hospital on January 12 when she slipped into coma and was on ventilator since then," superintendent of MG Hospital Arvind Mathur said.

She had not been showing any signs of recovery and succumbed this afternoon, he said.

Mathur said this death has no relation with the deaths of the 15 women who died allegedly after being administered contaminated IV Fluid in the two hospitals.

Fifteen women died in the last fortnight of February in Umaid and MG Hospitals after developing serious post-delivery complications resulting in profuse bleeding allegedly due to administration of the contaminated drip.

The National Human Rights Commission has issued a notice to the government of Rajasthan, asking it to submit a detailed report on the deaths of the women.
