A man who married twice could not escape the clutches of the law. He was arrested by the Fatehgunj police in Vadodara and handed over to the Vastrapur police in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The Vastrapur police are now investigating the matter.

When 29-year old Jigar Desai, based in Vadodara, married Lata
Jain (name changed), he did not disclose the fact that he was already married.

The IT engineer working with L&T, had been Jain’s classmate  earlier, and then met her again during a conference in Mumbai, where he was then posted, said inspector DD Damor of the Vastrapur police station. Jain, originally from Vadodara, married him in an Arya Samaj temple in Vastrapur in 2008, after the two fell in love.

Desai was already married to one Meera (name changed), in 2008. While Desai passed out of the MS University in 2003, Meera has also completed her Masters. Theirs was an arranged marriage. After Desai married Jain, the couple had been living in Vadodara for a while, but soon moved to Ahmedabad, with Desai telling Jain that he did not wish to live in Vadodara anymore, 'for personal reasons'.

Here, the couple lived together for about three months in Thaltej, after which Desai absconded. Before leaving, he told Jain that he was going to Vadodara to meet his parents.

When he did not come back, Jain filed a missing complaint with the police, and was later told by Desai's parents that he was already married. Jain then filed an FIR with the Vastrapur police.

The Fatehgunj police then arrested Desai, and handed him over to the Vastrapur police.
