In a series of attacks, Maoists gunned down one person and blew up two government school buildings in Orissa's Malkangiri district early today, police said.

The body of a person with gun shot mark was found along a road at Gamphakonda village, about 40km from Malkangiri, Malkangiri superintendent of police Anirudh Singh said.

The body of the man, believed to have been killed on the suspicion of being a police informer, was covered with a Maoist banner. A large number of posters with rebel slogans were also found near the site, he said.

Barely 10km away, heavily armed ultras struck at Tentuliguda village and blew up a primary school building by triggering a landmine explosion, Singh said.

No one was injured in the attack.

In another attack, a large number of rebels stormed into new school building at Bejangwada and set off an explosion to blow up the building, he said.

No injury to anyone was reported as the students of the residential sevasram school for tribals were yet to shift to the new building and still residing in the old one, he said.

Maoists have been blasting school and panchayat buildings in the region as these places are being used for accommodating security forces for anti-naxal operations, police said.
