Maoists delivered a blow to counter-insurgency operations in Orissa, triggering landmine blasts that killed three CRPF jawans at MV-23 village in Malkangiri district on Friday.

A police van carrying Bhupinder Singh, Sunil Kumar and Narendra Kumar drove over a landmine planted on a road. It was part of a convoy transporting troops who were due to launch an assault on Maoists. In Jharkhand, rebels kidnapped RJD legislator Ram Chandra Singh and his aide late on Thursday.
