The 72-hour shutdown by CPI(Maoist), which are protesting against proposed operation 'Green Hunt', today evoked mixed response in Jharkhand and affected mineral transport as truckers went off roads.

The bandh was total in naxal-affected districts of Chatra, Garwah, Gumla, Khunti, Latehar, Simdega and Sareikala-Kharsawan, affecting mineral transport, according to reports.

However, there was no impact in all the seven districts of Santhal Pargana, the reports added.

The police said the bandh did not affect Ranchi district. However, operators of long distance buses and trucks suspended their service.

Security personnel are manning strategic places, said a senior police officer here.

The railway authorities in the Central Industrial Chord line cancelled up and down Palamau Express, Gomo passenger,
Barwadih passenger and Dehri-on-Sone passenger trains.

The Ranchi-Delhi Rajdhani Express, Shaktipunj Express, Up
and Down Ranchi-Banaras passenger trains, Tata-Jammu Tavi
Express and Gomo-Gaya passenger have been diverted through
Gomo-Gaya-Mughalsarai routes, railway sources said in Dhanbad.

The shutdown will clash with the date of the February 9 meeting of chief ministers of Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and West Bengal in Kolkata to be chaired by Union home minister P Chidambaram.
