Congress MP and spokespersoan Manish Tewari created a flutter in political circles on Tuesday by hinting at a possible conflict of interest between members of parliament who are lawyers.
“If a member decides to speak on any side of the House, it would be appropriate that s/he declares his/her interest, whether s/he had represented any of the parties in any court in the telecommunication battle,” he told reporters.
He stressed that he was making a general observation in the light of the fact that the 2G spectrum issue had been extensively litigated and many MPs were lawyers.
