A man, who tried to hit Congress general secretary Janardhan Dwivedi with a shoe here, was today granted bail by a local court.

Special Executive Magistrate SS Yadav, who holds the court at Parliament Street police station, ordered the release of Sunil Kumar on furnishing of a bond.

Kumar, posing as a journalist, had attempted to hit Dwivedi with a shoe on May 6 after sneaking into a press conference at the AICC headquarters here.

He furnished a bond before the magistrate undertaking that he would not indulge in such activities.

Kumar, apparently miffed over yoga guru Ramdev's eviction from Ramlila ground, was arrested and booked under various provisions of the CrPC dealing with breach of public tranquillity.
