A man wanted by the Mumbai police in connection with a fake Indian currency note (FICN) racket was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh anti-terrorist squad at Charbagh area here, police said today.

Mohd Arif was arrested from Charbagh railway station yesterday and counterfeit notes of Rs 100 denomination along with some important documents were recovered from his
possession, they said.

Police said the Mumbai ATS had earlier requested the UP ATS to cooperate in arresting Mohd Arif, who was wanted in a case related to supply of FICN.

"During investigation it was revealed that Arif, who hails from Tirwaganj locality in Kannauj district, traveled frequently to Rajasthan, Delhi, Agra, Kanpur and Lucknow,"
they said.

Arif told the ATS sleuths that he procured fake currency from Mainpuri-based Girjesh Yadav alias Guddu and supplied it to Matloob Kasai in Mumbai.

Police said that a team of Mumbai ATS, which was already camping in the state capital, also interrogated Arif and would take him on remand.
