The sessions court sent a man and his mother to life imprisonment for killing a woman.

The additional session judge, RN Mehta awarded life imprisonment to Kamlesh Dantani for killing his wife Samu. Dantani's mother Sobha was also given lifer for the same.

Samu was killed for not being beautiful. She was also dark skinned. While delivering the judgment, the court observed that skin colour is decided by nature and killing a woman for being ugly or dark is inhuman and gruesome.

The court also sent the victim's father-in-law Ganda Dantani to three years imprisonment. All the three were fined Rs10,000 each.  As per the case details, Samu married Kamlesh, a resident of Dantaninagar in 2005. After the marriage Kamlesh and his parents harassed Samu for not being beautiful. They also had issues with her skin colour.

On December 24, 2006, the woman's in-laws and her husband hatched a plan to kill her and doused her with kerosene.  While Sobha got hold of Samu, Kamlesh sprinkled kerosene on the woman and set her on fire.  The neighbours heard the woman scream and rushed to her rescue. They admitted her to Civil hospital.

Samu, who had sustained severe burn injuries, died on January 17, 2007. In her dying statement she held the trio guilty of her murder.
