Man held for killing pregnant wife in J&K

Javaid Ahmad Naik, a resident of Kellar-Garkote, was arrested from Uri, 101 km from Srinagar, yesterday by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to bring him to book, a spokesperson said.

A man was arrested for allegedly killing his pregnant wife in Jammu & Kashmir's Baramulla district, police said today.

Javaid Ahmad Naik, a resident of Kellar-Garkote, was arrested from Uri, 101 km from Srinagar, yesterday by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) constituted to bring him to book, a spokesperson said.

Naik allegedly axed his 22-year-old wife to death at his residence in the border town of Uri on Saturday and fled.

Extensive searches were conducted and check gates established to nab the culprit. After three days', the SIT was able to apprehended the accused, he said, adding that details of the case is yet to be known.
