In a strange case of suicide, a man admitted to New civil hospital ended his life by strangulating himself in the bathroom of the ward late on Saturday night. The incident has shocked everyone, especially officials of the hospital.

According to information, Jasram Das, 40, a resident of Fulwadi in Ved road was admitted to the surgical ward of New civil hospital on Saturday morning. Das's right leg had developed some infection and was to be operated upon. However early on Sunday morning, one of the other patients saw Das's body in the bathroom of the ward.
Das tied one end of his shirt to his neck and other end with the tap of the bathroom.
Sources said that the reason behind the act is not known yet and none of the family members of Das had arrived till late in the evening to claim his body.

Sources said that the police have asked the hospital authorities to give an explanation for their laxity.

The staff including nurses, doctors were present on duty when the incident happened.
"This is total negligence on their part. They should have taken care of the patient, and check when he did not return for a long time," said a top official of New civil hospital, requesting anonymity.
