The West Bengal government has chalked out a plan to promote tourism in the state in a big way by developing eco-friendly projects of international standard, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today said.

Banerjee, who inaugurated the 'Beach festival' at the sea-resort of Digha two days ago, today held a meeting with the state's tourism minister Rachpal Singh and departmental officers to discuss ways to develop tourism in the state.

'We discussed measures to develop tourism in the state by promoting eco-friendly projects which will be of international standard,' she told reporters.

The government, she said, had chalked out several schemes to develop infrastructure at Susunia hill in Bankura, Ayodhya hill in Purulia, Mandarmoni beach in East Midnapore, Bishnupur and other places of tourism interest.
