Madras high court orders issue of notice to govt hospital dean

The Madras high court bench has ordered issue of notice to the dean of the Madurai government Rajaji Hospital here on a petiton filed by an accident victim.

Admitting a petition filed by one Palpandi, seeking Rs4 lakh as compensation for suturing a wound without removing bandage materials, Justice S Palanivelu ordered notice to the director of Medical services and the Dean of Madurai Rajaji Hospital.

The petitioner submitted that he met with an accident on Aug 21, 2009 and suffered fracture and wound in the left thigh.

As the pain continued even after treatment,he was asked to take nutritious food. However this did not help and the wound got infected.

He got admitted himself to a private hospital,where an X-ray revealed that bandage materials had not been removed.

Though it was removed, he could not walk properly after that and had become disabled.

Contending that the doctors had been careless in treating him, he sought a compensation of rs five lakh.

The judge ordered notice returnable with in 15 days.
