Following a violent scuffle between two communities late on Saturday night in Madhavpura, fresh violence was reported on Sunday evening as well. The irate mob took over Idgah circle and started pelting stones at each other, set couple of vehicles on fire and vandalised several shops in the vicinity.

According to police the incident was an outcome of Saturday night's clash between the same communities. On Saturday the communities had clashed with each other at Idgah circle over a minor monetary dispute. Both the groups had then pelted stones and vandalised shops. The police have identified one of the accused who is yet to be arrested.

"We controlled the situation on time and have caught six to seven people from the spot. We are trying to find out what exactly sparked the violence," said SM Katara, deputy commissioner of police, zone-two who rushed to the spot along with extra forces to stop the violence.

Further, to bring the situation under control, Rapid Action Force, State Reserve Police and officials from Detection of Crime Branch rushed to the spot. DCP Katara said that 4 to 5 vehicles were burnt and 5-6 shops were damaged severely.  The violence on Saturday was a fallout between two groups of people. Police said between 11:30pm and 12am on Saturday, a group of four to five people approached a roadside vendor, Allabaksh, selling cassettes at Idgah circle. The group reportedly picked up a couple of cassettes but refused to pay for the same leading to a verbal fight, Madhavpura police.

Later on, sources said, the group returned with a few more people and began arguing with the vendor. In response, another group supporting the vendor also gathered and in no time, the argument turned violent.

Police said that both the group pelted stones at each other and damaged at least three shops in the area. A couple of people sustained minor injuries but the situation was brought under control, police said. No human casualties were reported. Police added that one accused has been identified as Dinesh alias Dhuni, a resident of Laxmichand Ghanchi ni Chali.
