The Union home ministry’s travel advisory appears to have failed to cast its shadow on travellers crossing the Line of Control (LoC) between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. “We have not received any advisory so far,” said BS Manavalan, the regional passport officer (RPO), Kashmir. “Our bus for the LoC will leave Srinagar on schedule with three Indian passengers on board.”
The weekly Karavan-e-Aman (Caravan of Peace) leaves Srinagar every Thursday for the Kaman post on the LoC; The passengers disembark and cross the LoC into PoK, where they board a bus for Muzaffarabad. The Indian bus then picks up passengers who have travelled on the bus from Muzaffarabad and brings them to Srinagar.
A similar operation is carried out every Monday on the Poonch-Rawlakote route, with the passengers exchanged at Chakan-da-Bagh.
Last Monday, 27 people, including 10 Indians, travelled to PoK.
