Vadodara: The Vadodara police special operation group (SOG) has detained a truck carrying liquor worth Rs30 lakh near Vasad on Friday. The police have arrested two people in the connection and started further investigations in this regard.
Based on information, PSI HM Alsika along with his team had setup checking operations on the outskirts of Vadodara. On suspicion, they stopped a truck on Ahmedabad-Vadodara highway, with Haryana registration. On being asked, the driver said he was carrying newspaper scrap, but on checking, police found that they were carrying liquor. The police recovered 857 boxes of various foreign brands worth Rs30 lakh. The police arrested truck driver Gurvinder Singh and cleaner Suvarnasingh Jaat.
Talking to DNA, PSI HM Alsika said, "During investigations they admitted that the liquor was sent from Indore. The driver was to be informed about the delivery spot. "
During investigations, the police recovered two number plates of Haryana and Rajasthan RTO registration. The police has also initiated investigations in this direction.
