Liquor seized from hotel opposite Gandhi Ashram

Police team raiding the hotel found 24 bottles of premium whisky there.

Two crates of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) were found from the Silver Cloud Hotel, located right in front of the Gandhi Ashram on Saturday afternoon. A team of DG vigilance conducted a raid on the hotel at 4pm on Friday and arrested Raju Mukherji, manager in-charge of house-cleaning.

Another general manager, identified as PS Khosla is still absconding. RL Solanki, police inspector, DG Vigilance, who led the team said that they had received a specific tip-off about illegal liquor being sold in the hotel. He said that the hotel did not have the requisite permission either to stock liquor or sell it.

During the raid, Solanki and his team found 24 bottles of premium whiskey along with three beer cans worth Rs23 450.
Incidentally, on Friday, two cops were also arrested for reporting drunk on duty.
