Jammu and Kashmir Police today summoned 695 gun licence holders for questionings in connection with the fake licensing racket in the state.

"The 695 licences should appear before investigation officer at Bakshi Nagar Police Station along with the gun licence and to record their statements," a notification issued by the sub-divisional police officer, Bakshi Nagar, said.

It also said that they should deposit their guns in the police stations concerned within 15 days from the day of publication of the notice.

The notification further said that verification was conducted by the office of Deputy Commissioner Rajouri on 21 April this year in connection of issuance of such licenses by Assistant Commissioner, Rajouri and SDM, Mendhar.

"The gun licence record of below mentioned 695 persons of Rajouri district are not available and all the licences are fake," it said.

After absconding for the past two months in connection with issuance of fake gun licenses, a Kashmir Administrative Services (KAS) officer and a sub-divisional magistrate were arrested during a raid in Jammu on April 13.

Police has registered a case on February 7 this year in connection with issuance of fake gun licenses issued by Mukhtiyar during his posting as SDM, Mendhar, and Assistant Commissioner, Rajouri.

Police have arrested nine persons, including two clerks of Rajouri district, in this regard.
